Eco Art Matters Class

This Environmental Art class is co-taught by Andrée Thompson and Sharon Siskin at Laney Community College in Oakland, CA. It covers the history of the environmental/social justice art movement, with several distinguished speakers. Students take field trips, volunteer, watch documentaries and put together an eco art exhibit.

About the Instructors

-: Andrée Singer Thompson is a long time Bay Area artist and teacher who has exhibited internationally and nationally. Much of her sculpture and interactive and educational site specific installations deal with individual and communal survival issues.

Sharon Siskin is a recognized leader in the field of community-based public art and is the founder of Positive Art in 1988-present, an art project in the Bay Area AIDS service community. She has lectured extensively in art colleges, universities, professional conferences, galleries and museums throughout the United States.
